Where to Start
Introduction
Tiles have been used in interior decorating for centuries, but have only recently been widely adopted for use in New Zealand homes and commercial buildings. The more that people are exposed to the different uses and looks of tiles, the more tiles are becoming a material of preference – especially as they are durable and easy to clean.
How do I choose the right tile?
Heritage Tiles has a huge range of the latest style tiles to suit all environments and uses – whether you're tiling your kitchen or bathroom floor, vanity or bench splash-backs, or fireplace. Our staff are experts at helping you choose the right tile for the job, a critical role as choosing the wrong tiles can lead to costly mistakes. To work out how many tiles you'll need, you can use our Tile Calculator.
How easy is DIY tiling?
The key to successful DIY tiling for first-timers is to choose a straightforward project – in general we'd recommend you choose one that doesn't require too many cuts or the use of unusually shaped tiles.
Wet areas (eg showers, bath surrounds and bathroom floors) are required to be waterproofed. As the application of waterproofing materials is critical to ensure the prevention of leaks, Heritage Tiles is happy to supply a list of tradespeople for these jobs.
As with many projects around your home, the key to a great result is in the preparation. We also think it's useful to note that projects like this always take longer than you expect, and will need a high level of accuracy and patience to ensure you have a job to be proud of!
